  • Description:  Suckling clover or Least hops clover (Trifolium dubium, formerly T. minus). A low-growing winter annual weed that forms mat-like coverage in disturbed ground. Tiny yellow flowers are abundant in spring. Like other legume family plants, it helps bind nitrogen in poor soils. It tends to die out of rich soils. Hard to eradicate. Said to be the original Irish shamrock. Other common names are small hops clover, lesser trefoil, yellow shamrock, Kleiner Klee.
