Forms a deep taproot and rosette of foliage in first year. Flowers appear in second year. White or pale pink flower clusters fold inward when mature, forming a "bird's nest" of seeds. Prefers well drained or dry soils and full sun. Also known as bird's nest, Queen Anne's lace, devils plague.
